Why drain your pool?

Why drain your pool?

Water is a chemical compound with a chemical formula that almost all of us know, H2O.  When we turn on our faucet or fill up our swimming pool, the water that we get is made up of several compounds, including H2O.  It is said that our tap water can contain over 2000 different components other than H2O.  Those components include nitrates, calcium, magnesium, sodium, potassium; the list goes on and on. Some of these compounds are referred to as Total Dissolved solids or TDS.

VGB compliant covers have an expiration date!

In short the Virginia Graeme Baker (VGB) Act which took effect December 19, 2008 required all public pools and spas have a drain cover that complied with a performance standard that prevented entrapment. Though there has been a lot of confusion over the law and what’s required or acceptable, the law clearly stated that each cover be stamped with a life expectancy.

Do you ever wonder why you need to take care of your pool in the winter months? Here in Tucson Arizona that’s a question we hear quite often in December when we do get some cold weather. I know some of you will disagree with our idea of cold, but none the less the temperature of the pool water drops to the point where we can’t swim but we still have this chore of checking and cleaning our pools.
